Want To Control When iTunes Starts Syncing Your iOS Device?
By default, iTunes will perform a number of tasks as soon as you plug your USB cord in including launching itself if not already open, performing a backup, checking for software updates and finally syncing the latest updates. If you prefer to manually kick off the synchronization process then just follow these steps to disable auto syncing for an individual device or configure iTunes to never to perform an auto sync any device that’s connected.
Stop Auto Sync For One Specific iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad:
1. Open iTunes2. Connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch
3. Select the device when it appears in the left hand navigator under Devices
4. Make sure the Summary tab is selected and scroll to the Options pane
5. Deselect Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected
Stop Auto Sync For All Devices:
1. Open iTunes2. Open Preferences
3. Click Devices
4. Place check mark in Prevent iPhones, iPods and iPads from syncing automatically
This was tested with an iPhone 3GS on a Mac running iTunes 10.2.2 but it should work on Windows too and with any iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch!
If it’s different for you, let us know.
