Quickly Typing URLs in Safari
The iOS keyboard is full of little shortcuts to make entering data and in this case internet addresses (URLs) that bit easier and quicker.Depending on the keyboard you have installed, you may notice when entering a URL into the Safari address bar that there’s a special button labeled ‘.com’.
When pressed this of course inserts the remaining part of the address for you therefore saving you 3 extra taps on the keyboard.
This feature extends even farther though.
To get to them, just slide your finger and then let go when you’re over one.
If you have multiple keyboards installed, this list of possible URL endings gets bigger and bigger and goes on to include local country endings such as .fr for France, .it for Italy, .ie for Ireland and .co.uk for UK as well as many Asian countries local URL endings.
I recently tested this on an iPhone 3GS and an iPad 2 both running iOS 4.3.3.
