View URL Before Tapping in Safari or Mail on iPhone, iPod or iPad

Hover and View URL Link on your iOS Device

On a desktop PC or Mac we’re used to hovering our mouse pointer over a link on a webpage to see what it is before clicking.
For obvious reasons, this is not so easy to do on a touch screen device like your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
As a neat way around this lack of hover ability iOS shows you what the underlying link is another way – tap and hold.
If you tap and hold a link in either Mail or Safari a dialog will appear with the full internet address URL at the top of the dialog box.
From here you can then continue to open the link by tapping Open, open the link in a new Safari page by tapping Open in New Page, copy the link to the clipboard by tapping Copy or simply Cancel if you change your mind.
