Turn Off In-App Purchases on iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch

Is Your Kid Racking Up An ‘In-App Purchase’ Credit Card Bill?

This week I’ve really been in the mood to switch off or disable features on my iOS devices.
Usually I turn off certain things to save battery life but in the case of In-App purchases it’s to save money!
With the recent class action law suit against Apple for making it too easy to make In-App purchases on your iOS device it seems like a perfect time to teach people to disable the feature and avoid massive credit card bills courtesy of your game playing kids.
Here’s how to do it:
1.  Tap Settings > General > Restrictions
2.  If you have restrictions enabled already, enter your passcode
2a.  If you do not have restrictions enabled, tap Enable Restrictions and enter a new passcode twice
3.  Scroll to In-App Purchases and toggle to OFF
3a.  You might want to disable normal App Purchases completely by toggling the App Purchases switch to OFF also.
This was tested on an iPhone 3GS running iOS 4.3.2.
