Sync and View Multiple Google Calendars on iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch

With iOS 3.0 or higher you can now sync multiple Google Calendars easily to your iPhone, iPod Touch or Ipad.
It is a bit trickier than you’d expect but still not rocket science.
Here’s the steps:
Note:
If you already have Gmail added as an Account in your Mail, Contacts, Calendars screen then toggle the Calendar switch to OFF before you begin these steps – we’ll be adding a separate account to handle your calendars.
Add The Account
1. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Microsoft Exchange
2. Enter your Gmail address in the Email field
3. Leave the Domain field empty
4. Enter your Gmail address in the Username field
5. Enter your Gmail password in the Password field and tap Next
6. You’ll see Verifying and then a Server field should appear. Enter m.google.com in the Server field and tap Next
7. Now you’ll see a screen with a Mail, a Calendar and a Notes toggle switch.
8. Set the Mail toggle switch to OFF
9. Set the Calendar toggle switch to ON
10. Set the Notes toggle switch to OFF
11. Tap Save
Set up Google Sync
April 28 2011 – iPad Update
It appears that this works slightly differently on iPad because Google has decided not to recognise it as a mobile device.  Instructions specifically for iPad at the bottom of this page.

iPhone or iPod Touch

1. Open Safari and go to http://m.google.com/sync/
2. Sign in with the same Gmail account details that you used above
3. The Manage Devices screen will appear – tap your device
4. The Settings screen will appear with a list of all of your Google Calendars – select the ones you’d like to sync with your iOS device.
5. Tap Save
If you open Calendar App now you will see your selected calendars appear and they’ll be readable and writable.

iPad

For iPad we need to trick Google Sync a little in order to register it with you Google account.  To this we need to access the Google Sync website using ideally an iPhone or iPod Touch.
If you don’t have either of these, you can use a PC or Mac with Safari browser instead.
You’ll only have to do this once.
1a. If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch available to use, open Safari on either of those devices and go to http://m.google.com/sync/
1b. If you do not have an iPhone or iPod Touch, go to your PC* or Mac and open the Safari web browser.
  • Open Preferences > Advanced > Check ‘Show Develop menu in menu bar.  Close preferences.
  • Click Develop menu > User Agent > click any of the iOS Safari options (the highest version would be best).
  • Now go to the URL http://m.google.com/sync and continue with the instructions below.
2. Sign in with the same Gmail account details that you used above
3. The Manage Devices screen will appear – click your iPad device in the list
4. The Settings screen will appear with a list of all of your Google Calendars – select the ones you’d like to sync with your iOS device.
5.Click  Save
If you open Calendar App on your iPad you will now see your selected calendars appear and they’ll be readable and writable.
* This was tested on Mac only.  Please let me know in the comments below if you were successful doing this on PC also.
