Can’t remember the address? Frustrated typing maybe?
Here’s three quick and easier ways to input Directions into the Maps app on your iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4 or iPad 1 or 2 (3G models)
1. Type the Name – if the person is in your address book and you know you have their address in their too then just type the first few letters of their name and you’ll see autocomplete start to show matches from your Contacts.
2. Drop a Pin – it often happens when travelling especially. You’ve no idea of street names or spellings and browsing the map is easier. Well if you’re browsing your Maps app and can see your destination but still can’t quite make out the address then simply tap and hold the point on the map you’d like directions too.
If you’re in ‘Directions’ mode, i.e., you have the Directions button selected, then iOS will automatically populate the End: field with the words ‘Dropped Pin’.
If you’re in ‘Search’ mode, i.e., you have the Search button selected, hit the blue icon on the right side of the pin’s label and then tap ‘Directions to here’
3. Using Bookmarks – After you tap Directions in Maps two fields – Start & End – appear at the top. Tap into End: and you’ll see a blue book icon on the right. Tap this to access your bookmarks and populate the End: field with ease.
You can select from your Recent Destinations, Contacts or your own personal bookmarks.
