Delete by Swiping A Row on iOS Devices
It’s just one of those things that you either know or you don’t and if you don’t it’s unlikely you’ll stumble across it by accident. On any iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch app that has a standard view that supports adding, editing or removing entries you’ll most likely be able to delete a single row by swiping instead of using the Edit button, selecting the row and tapping delete.
The most obvious built in Apps this applies to is the Mail, Messages and Notes apps but it should work in almost any app with an editable view.
Here’s how to do it (Messages as an example but could be any app with an editable view):
1. With Messages open ensure you are looking at the view of all received messages
2. Swipe your finger to the right across a message row
3. When the Delete button appears, tap it.
This was tested on an iPhone 3GS running iOS 4.3.3
